TEMECULA, CALIF. – JANUARY 9, 2018 – National Merchants Association (NMA), a global merchant advocacy group and leader in merchant services, recently announced plans to expand internationally by opening a London-based office.

The company, ranked no. 196 on the 2017 Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing privately owned companies in America, decided on the expansion due to increasing overseas demand. Taking businesses stateside has always been a major challenge for merchants in the U.K. as well as the rest of Europe, but NMA views these challenges as an opportunity to help business owners increase their profitability while steering them toward cost-effective processing solutions.

The merchant advocate and payment processor is in the process of obtaining its Payment Facilitator certification which will allow the company to process payment transactions throughout the European Union. Once it’s recognized as a Payment Facilitator, the 100% NMA-owned International Merchants Alliance Limited will also focus on European-based merchants looking to do business in the United States.

“We’re excited to hit the ground running in London,” said Heather Petersen, CEO and Founder of National Merchants Association. “Expansion will allow us to help our merchants on an international level. We’ve been able to open an office in the U.K. largely because of the success of our strengths – industry-leading advocacy as well as our personalized customer service. We’re ready to go to work for our partners overseas.”

As Petersen mentions, expansion has been possible due to a unique combination of factors. NMA has experienced revenue growth of 2,225% over the past three years, and a recent third-party analysis valued NMA at nearly $400M. Petersen has set some ambitious goals and believes the company can top the $1B mark by the end of 2018 – the London office is a big part of that.

By growing its expertise in cross-border transactions, NMA aims to form partnerships and guide successful e-commerce with cost-effective solutions for businesses around the world.

Similarly, the newly-founded International Merchants Alliance Limited will bring unique offerings to businesses in the U.K. Among them include tools to assist merchants in dynamic currency conversion at the merchant level as well as proprietary software that understands exchange rates and anticipates the challenges that come from accepting foreign currencies.

“We look forward to establishing our presence in the U.K. and bringing our message of merchant advocacy to Europe as we make important contacts and forge lasting partnerships there. Opening our new office will facilitate additional growth and put us on the fast track to achieving our goals – and that’s something we’re really looking forward to,” said Petersen.
