National Merchants Association is proud to announce that two more of its team members have enhanced our ability to provide outstanding merchant services by passing the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) Certified Payments Professional (CPP) exam.

Software Engineering Manager Christopher Baily and Senior Account Manager Miquel Maimes demonstrated the necessary expertise to not only pass the exam, but guide NMA merchant partners through an increasingly complex electronic payments landscape.

The CPP exam is administered just twice yearly, and candidates must possess more than one year of payments industry employment or at least three years of industry-related work experience to qualify for the test. The exam covers a broad spectrum of competencies including sales, pricing and interchange business processes, operations and workflow, products and solutions, risk, regulatory compliance, and security.

“The ETA CPP program sets the standard for professional performance in the payments industry and is a symbol of excellence,” according to Lindsay Sugarman, NMA Employee Engagement Committee Channel Leader for CPP and Industry Education.

“These staff members join more than 1,000 certified professionals across the U.S. and bring the number of certified professionals at NMA to 11,” Sugarman said. “We are extremely proud of the Summer 2017 class of CPPs and can’t wait to begin training our Winter 2017 class!”

Although NMA agents are encouraged take the ETA CPP exam, non-participating members also benefit from the test and the associated training. Not only does passing the CPP exam offer professionals a competitive advantage in industry-related pursuits, it also expands the knowledge base of their professional teams and raises the level of expertise National Merchants Association can offer its merchant partners.
