Is this merchant considered high risk? How should I handle high risk merchants? Who gets to define what makes a merchant high risk?

These questions, among others, will be discussed during a panel discussion at Transact ’15, a payments-focused conference hosted by the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) in San Francisco March 31st to April 2nd.

The panel session titled, “High Risk: What it is, how to Handle it, and What the Label Really Means,” is part of the ‘Politics and Policy’ track, and focuses on the categorization of high risk industries, the guidelines in place to underwrite and mitigate the risk associated with a business, and the common misconceptions about high risk merchants.

National Merchants Association’s CEO, Heather Petersen, will moderate the hour-long panel session featuring payments industry experts William Sutton, Managing Member of First Merchant Card Services; Roman Cataldo, Director of Point Break Payments.

These bankcard professionals will share valuable insight into the hot topic of high risk credit card processing, and share essential industry updates that affect high risk merchant accounts.

This educational panel session will feature topics such as:

  • Who gets to decide what makes a business high risk?
  • ETA’s Guidelines on Merchant and ISO Underwriting and Risk Monitoring
  • Resources for underwriting and risk mitigation
  • Factors that determine a high risk merchant

Attendees will have a chance to contribute to the discussion and get a chance to win a Visa gift card. Attending Transact ’15? Check out the panel session!
